I use those metal tomatoe cages- it's fairly easiy to wrap the vine around them.. For 8" or so pots I go with the 'small' size, and for the 5 gallon pots I use the 'large' cages. They work well for me.

Thanks for the idea, Krstofer. I wonder if it's too late to use one for this plant, though. Right now it's almost 6' tall and is growing straight up. Looks like I should have asked this question a few months ago!

I just wrap the long vines around the various levels of the cage-

That long 6' tendril? I would just wrap it around the bottom ring of the cage- kind of weaving it so it stays.. Then it should sprout side vines who will try to grow straight up- Wrap those too.. Eventually you'll end up with a quite long vine all wrapped into a compact space.

Then when winter comes it's easy to move the vine inside (if it's not already) & hang one of those 'circline' flourescent bulbs above it. It's how I keep my tropical vines alive through all the frost.

I have a birch tree in my front yard which looses a ton of branches every time we have wind. I collected the branches and glued them to the pot leaving 3 very tall branches and cutting the rest off (to decorate the pot).
Here is a photo taken today. The bloom is rather small in my opinion, I think it's because it's fall here in Ontario and there's not much sun these past few days.

My first one was in a jardinere which fits on my wide windowsill (facing southeast). As it grew up, it grabbed the window screen and has been hanging onto the screen since. Who needs shades or curtains, LOL?

Cleaning the screen is tricky...
