caerulea fruit

My Caerulea has been producing plenty of fruit but they are just filled with spongy pith and air, no seeds, no pulp. I thought that maybe it was just the first few but they are all like this. The fruit starts out feeling firm but by the time it turns color and appears ripe it's nothing more than a little yellow balloon, about the size of a plum. There are a number of different passiflora varieties that it may be being pollinated by and I've hand pollinated it with a number of different plants. Why are the fruit sterile?
