Recent changes to my Frederick......

I have noticed some changes recently to my Frederick passion fruit.

1) The vines to have stopped growing

2) It has stopped flowering

3) The fruit are ripening (turning purple :)

4) A swarm of ants has taken up residence in it's container. I'm not sure if swarm is correct...a gaggle of ants?...how about a flock of ants? A pod?

This is my 1st year growing this plant so I'm not too familiar with it. I'm happy about the fruit ripening, but the appearance of the ants at the same time the plant has stopped growing and flowering has concerned me. The plant seems healthy otherwise. It is planted in a large (18" square) container, and the ants swarm out of the soil when I water.

As for the fruit, do I pick them and let them ripen, or leave them on the vine? A few have a faint purple blush, most are still green.

Thanks, and happy gardening.
