Are you using a utility or 'heavy' soil? Passiflora have very fragile roots, and heavy soils will smother the root ball. I grow some nice and healthy plants in a half sand/half Pro Mix combination, and they do very well.

Mine are in 12" pots, outside, and get watered every other day. I fertilize with Ozmocote when I repot in the spring, then do a foliar feeding once during the summer.

Thanks, that's good advice. I didn't really know they had fragile roots. There's a lot of root competition in that area. I have to really hack out the cabbage palm roots to dig a hole to plant anything. Maybe I should dedicate this trellis to more hardy vines and give my passi's (the one that's left) more cushy surroundings. It would explain their slow decline despite other conditions seeming optimum. Thanks again.

Aw, don't feel bad. My passi's, which were previously hearty and strong, are now almost completely defoliated by caterpillars/choked out by morning glories/strangled by ivy. :)
