I say go grab all the vines he weedtrimmered and root 'em! (Unless they are in a dumpster, but all you need is a stem with lateral buds -- or that's what I've used in wet florists foam anyway). I don't know about the seeds - if they look about like they look when the fruit is ripe, I'd imagine they'd be fertile (I opened a immature watermelon and you could tell the fertile from the infertile b/c on the side of the fruit still growing (green instead of red), the seeds were still white/green and in the red half of the watermelon, the seeds were dark and hard).

I have had no luck transplanting incarnata roots in late summer and fall outdoors. If you pick the largest fruits and put them in a bag with an apple until they shrivel, they should ripen for you and produce many good seeds. Planting the seeds may be the best way to quickly get these established.

I'd hop on that fruit myself.. In a bag w/ an apple is a good suggestion.

The weed-eater might look like it did alotta damage.. But just wait, they'll regrow. Then dig up all the lil guys & transplant 'em.

Caerulea, anethyst, 'pink princess', and incense also regrow rather quickly from roots in the ground I've found. All were in pots & well rooted into the ground, I moved the pots and within a week had new shoots all over where they had been.
So don't worry about the weed-whacker. It's rather ineffective.
