is this a normal blooming pattern?

This is the first year I've had a passionflower; it's in a pot and seemed to do well. I'm not sure of the species, since I bought it at a farmer's market, but I think it's a blue crown. The petals are light lavender alternated with white. My question is this: during the very warm/hot days we had in summer, when temps reached 80-90 degrees, there were practically no blooms, or maybe one occasional bloom at a time. Now that it's gray, misty, icky, with temps hovering around 60 degrees or so (i.e. typical Seattle weather), I'm getting numerous blossoms! Is this typical, esp. since these are supposed to be tropical plants? It just really confused me because I can't enjoy the flowers with this weather! Also, can I leave it out over the winter, or do I cut it back and bring it in once temps fall towards freezing? Thanks!
