Cloning Box Results

I made an aeroponic cloning box for cuttings and am really pleased with the results I'm getting with my passie cuttings. I have several varieties and they have grown impressive root systems in a very short time. Here's the roots on a Flying V and a Triloba. It was simple and very inexpensive to make. It took less then 15 minutes to put it together.

Nice looking roots. Very healthy.
Can you give some details about how to do the cloning box.
thanks

I made one modification and increased the amount of time the pump ran from 15min/hr to 30. If I was using a stronger pump the time adjustment might not have been necessary. I got the expanded clay pellets and mesh pots at a local hydroponics store. I had everything else.

Karin1, what is a cheap source for those clay pellets. I have seen them being sold by the 10L bag and bigger and was wondering how many of those tiny plastic basket you can fill with 1 10L bag.
Thanks

A 10 lb bag would fill more of those pots then you would ever need. lol I usually buy them at a local hydroponics store but found a good deal on small bags on Ebay. The first time I bought them I got a huge bag and had loads of pellets leftover but have found a use for them. They are excellent for drainage with container plants, either at the bottom of the pot or for some plants broken up and mixed in with the soil.

I wish that I had taken more cuttings of my passion vines. I think that I lost almost all of my vines. We had a power outage that lasted almost 3 days over New Year's and the temps were in the teens. Almost everything in the greenhouse froze. The soil in some of the medium and small pots froze solid! Even some really tender plants in the house suffered damage because the inside temps dropped so low. We had to stay in a hotel for a few days. It wasn't the best New Year I've had. lol

I was reading this and making a smaller trial version.
Can you use rubber mulch instead of clay pellets?

I don't see why it wouldn't work unless there's a problem if it's constantly moist.

How do you get the cuttings out of the black thing without damaging them?

The expanded clay pellets just fall out when you tip the pot. The holes in the pots are plenty big so the cutting can be easily removed.
