Passiflora Manta

I have a new little Passiflora Manta, and it had only two leaves when I got it (about a month ago) one leaf died shortly after I got it. I figured shipping stress, etc. Then the second leaf started to yellow, and as it was in the process of getting ready to die also, a new leaf formed. The soil feels moist to the touch, yet the leaf is pretty soft. Not as firm as I would expect. I have lost a very nice little Manta a few years ago due to missing one watering. So I've kept this one a little moister. Could it be that its roots are rotting? With this being the only leaf left, I am anxious. It is on a pebble tray (very dry here) and it gets filtered afternoon sun only. Thank you in advance!
