'Kinkaku'

Hopefully this pic is a bit bigger than the "High Noon" pic. I will eventually figure this picture thing out.

Joey, this is just like yours, there is one other name I have found for it "Souvenir de Maxime Cornu". I am guessing they are one in the same, but that CAN be a bad thing.

I picked that up at a local perennial nursery. I was joking with my S/O on the way over that if I found a yellow tree peony, no matter the price, I was going to get it. When we got there and I got out of the car, it honestly was THE first thing I saw. It was mislabeled as "high noon", which I got there a week later, and I think I got pretty good deals on them...$39.00 each, and they are not bare root and no shipping :-)

I have one too, picked it up for $20 last fall at a nursery. It is now blooming. I was a little disappointed though, as I thought it was supposed to be more yellow, which was really what I wanted at least so the tag that was attached indicated that it was a pure yellow. I'll have to check my tag to see what it's called.

High noon is a real yellow. KInkaku and Souvenir de Maxime Cornu are similar, but different. Kinkaku is cheaper and easier to find... I say this though i have yet to find it locally and am trying to stay away from bare root. I have been looking for Kinkaku and Kinshi (another orangish yellowish ish ish) for two years now. I don't have the greatest nursery selection where i live :(

This bothered me last night. I had a catalog that offered both (at different prices!) but when i looked at them they DID look terribly similar. I looked them up in my peony book and the book states they are the same!?

Go figure

Drives me a teeny bit nuts but it does look a bit like this one, "Professor Souvenir de Maxime Cornu."

Here is a link that might be useful: from Klehm's Song Sparrow Nursery

I just bought this variety for $10! It was the last one and was originally priced at $40! Can you describe the color for me?
