white eyes/shoots on Bowl of Beauty?

| Hi. It is early Spring here in Australia. I was worried that one of my peonies had perished so yesterday I dug around in the soil until I located it. However the eyes/shoots appear to be white instead of pink. Is this possible and if so what could be the cause? (I'm sure they were pink last year). This is a Bowl of Beauty peony. All my other peonies have pink shoots. |
