Howdy all,

I garden a ton. For years and years now. Anyways I figured what the heck I'd give peonies a try, can't hurt I'm thinking. If they die they die. I'm in zone 8 So cal where it gets into the 20's in winter. Anyways I order 15 of em and my surpise is the fact of which way to plant em and how deep. I have a root like a carrot coming out of a crown with eyes on it. The root could be just that a root or a branch. The eyes are coming out of the crown. I'm totally lost on this or should I plant it horizonal. Anyways any help would be great and also how big to the plants get. I'm cold enough for lilacs I have about 1,000 of them.

Thanks a ton any other help would be great. I went though alot of post trying to get help on this but couldn't find any.
