Tree peony seeds

I went out in my garden today as it was rather mild and saw some tree peony seeds, I guess I missed breaking off the pod in the fall. Do you think it is worth trying to plant them in pots. They seem full and plump. Would they be true to the mother plant or am I wasting my time. The other post on seeds said to plant as soon as the pod burst open so perhaps it is too late.
