Companions/Moving Advice 'Krinkled White'

| Hi all! I'm new to this forum, and don't have much experience with peonies. I do have this one, I think, it was left here by the previous homeowners. I would like to move it, as it's shoved into the corner between the house and the fence in my front side yard. The only time I notice it, is when it blooms a couple of days (weeks?)a year, but I do like the leaves. It is so pretty, people do a double take, but only during the fleeting bloom time.
Can you suggest a companion peony, maybe a light pink with yellow center, that would look nice with it, maybe extend the bloom period? What are some bulbs that would set it off?
What is the best time to move it? I stake it with a tomato cage, and cut it down to the ground every spring, am I doing the right thing? Thanks for any advice and suggestions. :0) |

Move peonies in fall. If moved at other times, they may take 2 years or more to bloom again. My fave light pink/yellowish peonies are fragrant "Raspberry Sundae", super-fragrant "Sorbet", and "Golly". I planted "Golly" this fall and it hasn't bloomed yet, but they claim it doesn't need staking. Also, R.S. is supposed to have strong stems, too. Cut & paste these links to see photos of Golly, RS, and Sorbet. http://boonebrierfarm.com/peonycatalog/peoniesgtom.html http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/5257/ http://www.pbase.com/joellent/sorbet_peony |

| PS - I looked up the bloom sequence here: http://bloomdate.paeonia.com/alpha.htm According to this chart, R.S. & Sorbet bloom basically the same time as Krinkled White, and Golly blooms 6 days after. But I would take this data with a lot of salt; I've found my peonies don't follow this very accurately at all. |

| PPS - I assume when you cut it down in spring, you mean dead foliage from the previous year. They recommend dead foliage be removed in fall, as diseases can overwinter & cause problems for the new growth. Of course, you never cut green foliage (unless it's diseased). |

Swenson Gardens lists Golly as a mid-season peony and Krinkled White as a Mid-Late season bloomer! Go figure! I'm surprised you stake Krinkled White. I assumed it wouldn't need it as it is a Japanese-type bloom. |

| Here's a pretty light pink/yellow center single-bloom peony. Click & paste to see photo of Seashell: http://www.fullbloomfarmpeonies.com/catalog/seashell.html |
