1-Do peonies have to be cold to bloom the following year? 2-Will summers in the high 80's be too hot for them? I live in zone 8. We might experience high 20's once a year and high 90's for a few weeks a year. I would appreciate help as I have never had peonies and would love to try them. thnks.

Peonies will do fine for you. They like the heat as long as they have enough water. They will bloom with as little as 400 hours of winter chill which should be no problem for you. When you plant keep them high enough that the buds are visible in the winter when the plant is dormant. Amend your soil deeply with compost or other vegetative matter before planting. Al
