I have read where the peony is a slow developing plant. This coming September I plan to move mine to a better spot this some rich manured soil, well drained, I hope.

I'm sure mine is peony, but I saw no flowers last year - far too much rain !

I've wanted a fern leaf for so long, but just couldn't afford the $40 price tag. I came across a private home that was selling perennials and he knew I was an avid flower gardener. He offered his one and only red fern leaf offshoot for $l5 and I grabbed it. I put it in our dairy barn for the winter since I didn't get it planted, and I couldn't find it for the rest of the winter. I finally got all my plants out of the barn yesterday and found the peony, (POOR thing), growing,(but mostly white from no light) and with one nice bud on it. I didn't even water it all winter. I feel so guilty!!!! Poor thing is trying to grow and bud in a dark barn with no water. I guess they are very sturdy plants!
