Divide or cuttings?

I know you can divide peonies, but can you propagate them from cuttings? My mom's neighbor has peonies that were there when I was a little child and I used to play in. I could ask them for a division, but could I also ask for a few cuttings?

No, at least not the peonies you are probably talking about. The only way to propagate those peonies is through division. You can also start seeds, but they won't be the same & will, of course, take several years.

Peonies take patience...this coming September I plan to dig and divide and relocate a discovered plant (last year). I'll have to post again this summer as to the color and condition.
