You can move them and they will grow, the question is will they flower? If the new location has 400 hours or more, of winter cooling, and you plant them high enough that the buds are NOT buried and out of sight in the winter, yes they should flower in a year or two. Al

I had to move a peony in early June one year. I dug it up with a lot of dirt around the roots. It was in full bloom (zone 4/5, everything is later here than most other places). It survived the transplant and has been happy in its new bed, blooming every year, for the last 15 years.
