My tree peonies survived!

| I was doing a quick survey this afternoon (we still have snow, after all) and saw that both the tree peonies I planted last fall survived! One has several red stalks emerging and the other has a few. I am very relieved. I've never grown them, and planting something so deep was a little scary.
Should I just let them fend for themselves, or should I cover them if it gets really cold (like in the teens)? Thanks. |

| This will sound silly but give them some shade. Shade will prevent one side of the plant's cells expanding too quickly while the other side is frozen. You can drape several sheets of cloth over the tps if it the temperatures are 20F or below. |
