??'s about peony in my zone...

After reading thru the posts, I'm convinced that my new peony will overwinter here. Usually we are a zone 8, but occasionally a 9......and different resources put me in different zones. I believe that we are actually in a what I call a "micro-climate" due to a HUGE lake. Just 40 miles away it HARD freezes and ice storms, etc...but usually we only get mild freezes (high teens at night(with day temps in the 30 - 40's) and only for a couple of weeks or so with periods of much warmer, almost spring temps the rest of the "winter". I am not worried too much about it getting cold enuf for my peony to be happy. I AM however concerned that it may get too hot or too much sun in our blistering, miserable, dry summers. Should I put my peony where it will get mid and late afternoon shade when the temps are soaring 100+? Or will it still be ok in full sun with enuf water?

Thanks!

Gina
