where should i put it?

i don't know why this is worrying me so much but i just can't decide where to put my peony! it would probably be best off close to the house where i can keep a good eye on it. i'm scared to put it on the perimeter of the yard because of boats and various vehicles pulled in and it might get run over. i know they like sun and they're not picky. it's a bunker hill. i can take pictures of my yard if it would help.

Well, I would sure plant it somewhere where that won't happen. Chances are no one will be as concerned or watch out for your peony as much as you do. Plant it where it will be safe.

Peony care - planting
When planting bare root or pot-grown peonies, give each clump a sunny spot in the garden that's at least three feet in diameter and well away from tree roots.

The 'eyes' should be no more than 1-2 inches below the soils surface.
