Ok, I finally got the pics uploaded.

one thing to check is are the flowers on the same stem.

Use lengths of bamboo or other stiff material, push in ground and tie lightly to the stem. After blooming to encourage stronger stems untie from the stem. If you left them tied up and there was a burst of growth the tie could girdle the stem and kill it.

i would use my fav plant support for this type of problem- the 2- armed metal 'Y stakes'(coated with dark green paint). they sell them all over, 3 diff. heights. made in eng. i think.walt nicke catalogue in topsfield ma. sells them.

Mrsgalihad, I'm glad you posted your experience, as my Feng Dan is doing the same thing this year. It seemed less floppy last year, its first year. I did notice last year's flowers were more white, this year's more lavender/pink when they first opened, becoming almost white as they aged. I was concerned that I hadn't pruned properly or that some nutrient/micronutrient might be lacking.

Nice pictures! It certainly is an attention-getting plant ... the flowers this year were larger than my hand! (Alas, the glory is short-lived, as it is finished blooming for this year.)

I did forget to untie the bamboo I used last year after blooms are gone. Hopefully that will help.

Diane, it's interesting that your Feng Dan is pinker this year. I was puzzled because only half of mine is pink. The buds in particular. They were noticibly different as they were swelling. Not only that the pinkish blooms get slightly more sun than the white ones.

Mrsgalihad, I've noticed with more than one kind of flower that they will be pinker with more light and whiter with less. It makes sense that this is what is happening with your Feng Dan.
