Wow that is really early. I have 5 tree peonies that are quite old, they have buds but nothing has opened yet. I agree this is an unusual year.

Probably not Aprilj Fool's :) I have a tree peony that has been open a few days now. Of course, I'm a bit farther south.

And a peony I started from seed opened the same day for the 1st time. Nothing impressive, I doubt I ever try from seed again

I think if the seedling is putting out a flower for the first time, it probably won't be very large or impressive. I'm guessing next year it should look a bit better.

I was wondering if my seedling might improve next year, I hope so.
The name of my tree peony is Ling Hua Zan Lu, I believe. It is very pretty, the flowers are as big as my hand.
