I checked Carsten's website and found out it has a Japanese type bloom. Since this type of flower does not set seed on the main flower but only on the side buds, if the plant makes them, the fragarence will be mild at best.

There has been some discussion that one of the wholesale providers overseas has renamed a bunch of peonies to more marketable names so this may be one of those.

To look forward a few of the main wholesale suppliers in the US appears to be releasing some of the older Bigger and Autin peonies with in the next year or so. Bigger is especially known for his reds. He was from Topeka Ks.
