New peony

Hi

I just joined the forum. I am new to gardening.

I bought a chinese pink double peony the other day. It is still in its 1 gallon container. I have very small sunny area and that is already filled by black eyed susan, asiatic lily, a rose and silver lace vine. I have a part shade area on the north side which is much cooler in hot summer mths. I have 2 options. Leave the peony in container on the stairs in the sunny area so if gets two hot I can move it. OR I can plant in the shade garden- It will have competition from big tree roots but the soil is very rich with organic material ( a lot of earthworms too).

Any input is appreciated

Thanks
