UGH, think I just made a major mistake... :(

We have been in the high 70s to 80s and now are plummeting to the teens for 4-5 days.

My 3rd year tree peony has about 6 buds on it. I decided to pot it up and bring it in. In the process, I realized that it had sent a tap (?) root straight down about the size of my thumb and I snapped it off. That was the biggest root on there, though it has a few more (but not many).

Did I just jeopardize this plant? I know it's too late to do anything now but I'm just sick about it!

I have four more younger ones in the yard that have some buds - should I just leave them be?

Quick advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks so much,

Andrea
