White Dust on Peony Leaves

I have had the bush in my yard for about 7-8 years and the last two seasons they have had white dust on the leaves. They still bloom as usual, but lately not as much as they used to. I dont add these leaves to the compost as I am afraid it will damage what I have, and I dont want to dig them up if not necessary. I may have a picture and can post, but if someone knows what this is, please tell me how to cure and what to do!

Yes! I have been having brain farts on certain descriptions lately sorry. Its horrible and I don't know what to do to prevent it from reoccuring.

The spores that cause powdery mildew need to be removed from the garden. Remove affected leaves and put in plastic bags in the garbage. As a preventive, spray a Bordeaux mix on the remaining plant and the soil around the plant. Try and prevent the foliage from being kept wet for long periods. Al
