I need to transplant peonies and it's Spring

I know you are supposed to transplant peonies in the Fall, but here's my situation.

I planted 3 bare "root" plants Fall 2006. They came up last Spring (07), but I had put them in a stupid place - and they just got mowed down. I thought they were done for, and decided to give up on them. Now (mid-April 08) they are coming up again, and they will only be mowed down if I don't transplant them. They are not mature, and have not yet ever bloomed. Should I let them get mowed down and try in the Fall (but how will I even know where they are); or do the deed now?
