Garden Peonies Saturday, May 12 11:00 a.m. TO 5:00 p.m.

The following wonderful private gardens will be open for touring on Saturday, April 21 AND Saturday, May 12. The gardens will be open from 11:00 a.m. UNTIL 5:00 p.m. It will be appreciated if you stay within these hours when visiting. Please note that some gardens are only open for tours one of the two days. There is no charge to the public.

The gardens include:

Don & Cathy Smith 4003 Sylvan Court, Floyds Knobs, Indiana 47119 Â A seven year old one and half acre collectors garden. Over 300 peonies including herbaceous, intersectionals, Chinese and Japanese tree peonies and fern leaf rock garden peonies. This garden also has over 4000 daffodils, 300 hosta and 600 daylilies on display along with a wide array of other perennials, trees and shrubs. Open both days. Phone 923-8113

Bob & Janet Hill-Hidden Hills Nursery  1011 Utica-Charlestown RD, Utica, IN 47130 - A wonderful eight-acre display and sale nursery located in Utica, Indiana. Jean Ohlmann  17201 Ash Hill Drive, Louisville, KY 40245. A wonderful garden on the east side of Louisville with an assortment of perennials including tree and herbaceous peonies. Many wonderful rare evergreens, trees and shrubs to delight the eye. Open both days - Phone 245-4503

Skip & Robyn Odell- 1411 Oxmoor Woods Parkway, Louisville, Ky 40222 Â A wonderful oriental/asian design with many tree and herbaceous peonies in the landscape along with a wonderful array of exotic perennials, shrubs and trees. Open both days. Phone 426-4714

Dr. Clifford Berner  109 North Galt Avenue, Louisville, KY 40206. One of the largest collections of antique/heirloom herbaceous peonies in Louisville surrounding a beautiful Victorian home with tree peonies and wonderful conifers and azaleas surrounding the lawn. Open both days (No phone)

Wanda Pangburn  1510 Turquoise Drive, Louisville, KY 40214. This beautiful garden is mostly shade with a wonderful collection of hosta and other shade plants. The owner has found some sunny spots for beautiful peonies to add color to her garden. Open May 12 only  Phone 368-7726

Even though not officially on tour this year, please be aware of some wonderful peony display additions at Yew Dell Gardens in Crestwood the Louisville Zoo Gardens and the Fleur de Lis Gardens at Waterfront Park along Witherspoon Stret in downtown Louisville. The Midwest Peony Society has donated hundreds of beautiful peonies to these display gardens and this year will be the first year for most of them to bloom.

That sure is a lot of touring, and peonies to be enjoyed in just 6 hours.
