Last year's peony roots

I bought some peony roots last spring at a big box store thinking I knew where I would plant them. Never got around to planting them though. I just found them in my garage and am wondering if it is worthwhile to try to plant them? Will year old peony roots still be good?

    I bought some miss placed and forgot them.then thought they where dead and they started coming up this spring.They had been in a box under a table outside.they still where in the bags I bought them in.

    So stick them in some dirt it is at least worth a shot.
