I think you may have a wrong spelling. Where did you find the plant.

Sounds like it might be Kamata-nishiki :-)

Thanks for input. I found a plant at a local nursery and on the tag I was able to read Kamatanis lil. So I think I have my answer.

Searching "Peony Kamatanis lil" returns no results, so I'm 99.9% sure that you plant is Kamata-nishiki.

I do think that's one of the varieties in my collection, and it's interesting to note quite a difference in color between two different photos pictured in the link provided, The first being very similar to mine in color. I wonder it that's just a "lighting" , thing since photo color is infuenced by outdoor light conditions I've found, with certain light cond8itions making for darker colored photos perhaps. I'd agree that the tag may be labled as mentioned, but perhaps it's a case of "shortening" the complete name , which is done is some cases with plants with very long names , be it that the tags aren't big enough or just to save time perhaps. An abbreviation of sorts in other words!
