That is a nice Gay Paree. I love the pink color. I don't know why mine is darker almost red compared to yours.

This is beautiful! I am considering planting a Gay Paree too, but can you tell me how different it is to Bowl of Beauty please? I have not seen either in bloom so I cannot compare directly. Thanks!

It is very different from B of B, as GP's guard petals are an intense fuchsia and the center petaloids a striking white with pink tinge. Bowl of Beauty has warmer, more muted fuchsia petals and a more yellowish center. I used to like Gay Paree a lot, but it now seems a bit garish to me.

That's a nice description Mantis :) I don't have the Bowl of Beauty and was wondering about it myself. I'm looking at adding Garden Lace this fall.

Here is Gay Paree this year.

Wow that is a beautiful bush! It is hard not to love peonies eventhough the flowers bloom for such a short time.

Gorgeous, Ripley! How are their stems? Do you need to stake them?

I have Bowl of Beauty -- it is a beauty, it's much more subdued than Gay Paree, starts out a nice medium pink, open to a relatively bright yellow center, and each day it becomes a bit more muted, until it's almost cream colored. It smells very good and the stems are pretty strong.

But I also love the bright colors of Gay Paree! It's all in the placement!

Peonies are like divas -- short bursts of brilliance, and it's worth it. :)
