Marigolds around peonies vs. Japanese Beetles

Posted by tristate (My Page) on

Companion lists say marigolds are effective against Japanese Beetles. I've used traps and am applying milky spore this season but realize it'll take some time for effect.
Can Marigolds planted around peonies help this year? Anything toxic about marigold/peony combination?

I would say no. I always get Japanese beetles in the marigolds I plant around my tomatoes to supposedly keep away tomato worms.

How badly do the Japanese beetles eat your peonies?
