Do you experience sudden change in temps and humidity? I have learned that sometimes peonies droop because the plants moisture distribution cannot keep up with the rapid growth, thus the drooping. By the end of a day or two, they should perk right back up. If they do not, then it is a sign of distress or maybe root disturbance.

It did turn cold after a nice beginning to the Spring back in April, it's been a cold and wet May (not freezing but night time temps to about 2C then some days not more then 6C.
It HAS been humid,yesterday with the rain and then today started hot and humid early in the day. I'll watch them and cross my fingers that the conditions you describe are the reason for the droop. I noticed one of the others has slightly drooped this afternoon (only a few of the stems/buds) but the one in the middle of those two is still standing stately and tall.

And kousa, just as you suggested, they started perking back up to almost straight by 6:00pm, about an hour after the sun had been replaced by shade!!!
Thank you again. I would have obviously seen them straighten up again but wouldn't know what was wrong if not your suggestion!

Glad to hear that they come back up for you. I do not think the flower buds will be affected by this occurence.
