I bought this peony at Walmart about 5 years ago. the label called it a "Duchess DeNamur" but I have googled the name and I have not come up with a thing about it. Has anyone here ever heard of it?
The bloom is GORGEOUS! It is about 7" diameter with a very sweet smell. It bloomed this week, and I hope this link will take you to the picture I took yesterday.

| I agree. I also don't think that picture is of "Duchesse de Nemours". Take a look at the link below. It is the "Duchesse de Nemours" page on the Peony Databank web site. There are many pictures on this page from several sources. "Duchesse de Nemours" is not pink at all. It is a creamy white. Wal-Mart is notorious for selling mislabeled peonies. If you just want a surprise peony for a cheap price Wal-Mart is the way to go. If you need something specific, it will cost you a bit more, but a peony grower is the way to go. Wal-Mart is a great place to start a love affair with peonies for cheap. Once you become addicted and need to add more specific varieties, there are several peony growers who can help you! The one you have is very beautiful however, and looks like a duchess to me! It's nice to have a fragrant one too. |
