I read that this varity will survive in the shade. Has anyone had any experience with it and if so what is a good source to buy from. Plant delight Nursery has one in their catalog, but it is $50.00. Too much.

Thanks

How much and what kind of shade are you talking about?

If you are talking P. obovata, Song Sparrow have it for less.
It does bloom in part shade, I'd say 3-4 hours of uninterrupted sun.
Another part-shade lover you may want to check on is P. woodwardii.

Here is a link that might be useful: P. obovata

Another shade tolerant, woodland peony would be Paeonia japonica. I am not sure that the others mentioned are actually woodland peonies.
