While I was on the Gilbert H. Wild site I noticed a very dark red they say is one of their darkest with a purplish cast. No mention of the silver shadings. They had at least two or three they called dark. I would try the Adelman's peony site at http://peonyparadise.com/ and see if there's a "Contact" box to click on and email Mrs. Adelman herself with your question. Be sure to mention the silver markings; that might trigger a memory for anyone long in the peony business. You could try www.hollingsworthpeonies.com and trying a contact there as well. Good luck.

I hope I didn't mislead anyone by calling my peonies "plum." As I remember, that was how they were described in the original nursery catalog I ordered them from, but now that I think of it, plum could be a darker purplish color, couldn't it.

It might be better to describe them as a rich full-bodied medium pink, but an unusual shade of pink. Perhaps a pink-plum shade, or pink with a hint of plum overtones.

I should have taken a picture while they were still in bloom, darn it.

It is a beauty, at any rate. For convenience I've just called it my plum peony over the years.
