Peony with round leaves?

A friend said that she found a picture here several months ago of a peony with round leaves, pink stems and pinkish ivory single flowers, but couldn't find anything like it in garden centers. She says it might help if she could remember the name (duh!), so she'd like to know what it is. (So would I.)

This fall I might have a place to plant something, so I'm more interested than I otherwise might be. :-)

TIA, Maggie

RE: Peony with round leaves?

Rounded Leaves and pink stems(Actually red) would be indicative of Paeonia mlokosewitschii. No wonder she didn't remember the name. You might try this thread. It is probably where you saw the info earlier. P. mloko link

The normal flower color is creamy yellow but most plants you buy are hybrids and have pink in them.

RE: Peony with round leaves?

Thanks, Peonyman! She looked at the picture and said "That's the one!" She says she is familiar with "mollys" (she can even spell mlokosewitschii without copy and paste, LOL!), but didn't think they had round leaves. I bookmarked the thread about them for her.

Those are really interesting-looking plants. Thanks again!!
