Surprise! And Foliage question answered

I planted a Peony (Kansas) last spring. My question at the time for you all was how bad the foliage would look in August. I'd heard that it would look ratty in our hot/humid climate by that time. I'm here to report that the foliage did look rather ratty by August. However because I moved potted flowers in front, you couldn't see it, so it didn't really matter. Now for the surprise. I didn't kill it and it's up looking marvelous this spring. I'm so pleased. Since our soil has all the Phospherous and Potassium it needs, I'm wondering if Peonies need Nitrogen? Should I put a little composted manure around it or maybe scratch in some 46-0-0 Urea?
