dividing peonies

| i used a shovel to cut part of a plant to divide it. when i pulled the part of the plant out of the hole i noticed i cut off a large root coming from the main plant. will this kill the plant or will the root grow new plants |

| The old plant minus some root should recover OK. The new division if you have some growth points should also be OK. It would have been a lot less stressful on both if you had done this when the plant was dormant. Al |
