lots of buds...and no rings! (pics)

Wouldn't you know it? I didn't get rings on my peonies this spring. This is a row of 4 older bushes. Divisions from the farm I grew up on. I divided and relocated them when I moved in spring of 2002.

So....for sure we will get heavy rains and wind when they do open! :-(

Nice! Do you know what variety they are? I've got some that I moved from my Dad's when he passed away, that originally came from my Grandma's...nothing like sentimental plants :)I don't have rings around any of mine...too many to fool with it. When we get heavy rain when they're in bloom, we just have LOTS of cut peonies in the house!

Try pea sticks, twiggy bits of branch that you shove into the soil next to the peonies to prop them up a bit. Next year, get the rings in the ground as soon as you see the emerging shoots.;o)
