Your best EARLY double or bomb peonies

Hi Peony Experts,

I'm looking for early or very early peony varieties with double or bomb flower shapes to plant. By early I mean peonies that finish flowering on or before Memorial Day in Zone 4. The earlier the better--late April/early May flowering would be perfect. I want peonies that will give me flowers for the full month before roses start blooming up a storm (around Memorial Day here in Zone 4/5)

I've done lots of research online and in peony books, and came up with the following 15 varieties that are available from Adelman's Peony Gardens and supposedly early. What's been your experience with them? Are they truly early (before roses) in your garden? I only have room for 8 peonies, so feel free to offer advice on which ones you'd choose and which ones you'd pass on.

Festiva Maxima--for sure I'm planting this one!

Also, if bloom times are all presented as offset to Red Charm, when does Red Charm bloom in Zone 4/5 Nebraska?

In Anchorage Alaska, my fernleaf peony bloomed first, followed by Red Charm and Julia Rose at about the same time, which was June mid. Coral Sunset and Lemon Chiffon just opened on 7/6 but this is the first year for them in my garden. Two Japanese tree peonies bloomed around June 25th. I would be willing to bet I am about two to three weeks behind you.

Peony lady will you have your garden open for the APS meeting next year? If you go to the PNW meeting in March I am planning on being there and would love to talk to you.

A word of advice or something that just bugs me is going back several years and bringing older postings to the top. It depends on the poster but some of the posts are set up to send an email to the original poster. Someone that posted 5 years ago might have forgotten why they posted.
