I'll try to remember when it blooms, another couple of weeks.
Last year was the first year it bloomed for me--OMG, it was gorgeous! From far away it stood out like a beacon against the foliage.

Oh, thank you, Mytime! I am trying to ID mine, and the closest I found was KR. But, the pics are different everywhere.
Before it blooms for you, can you tell me if the stems are dark on it when the buds develop?
I wonder though, if yours hasn't bloomed yet, and mine is done already, if I'm going in the right direction ;)

Our peonies bloom much later than the rest of the country, so don't let that fool you if it's the early, mid-, late bloom thing you're thinking about. In fact, we have a growing peony-farming industry to export cut peonies to the rest of the country because the timing here is right to catch the market when no one else's are blooming.

Just went out and looked, and the stems are much darker than my other 2 peonies in that area.

Thanks, Mytime. I thought since your zone is 3/4 the climates could be similar. Yes, I consider mine to be mid.

Turns out this is the color of red that my camera doesn't show well...I'll have to find the other camera and try later.
