Deja vu all over again, I have the same problem. It's been there for decades and bloomed beautifully for years. The past 4 or 5 years though, fewer and fewer buds form and many of them don't mature into blooms. I have had major problems with moles the past 7 years and wonder if that may have something to do with it. Any thoughts?

If your peonies are still in the full sun and the soil has not covered the roots to gradually increase the planting depth, I would look for the depletion of soil nutrients. Every spring when I weed I add a couple of inches of finished compost around the plants, not on top of the plants. At fall cleanup time I do the same. Al

I also have fewer Peonie blooms each year. Ten years ago I had about a dozen blooms. Now , this year, I have two ! So should I be treating the soil? How?
