| I am a newbie peony grower in a cold zone. I have three peonies that are in bud, but not in bloom yet. They are all in the same area of the garden. This morning I looked at them and they were fine. But five hours later, I happened to glance over and one of them has gone limp. It is not on the ground, but the branches holding the buds have kind of drooped over. Very floppy. I expected this to happen when the peony had blooms ... but it is still in the bud stage.

| Three plants together growing in the same condition and one suddenly goes limp, would lead me to look carefully at the roots. Something is cutting off the roots from the foliage often gophers. Sometimes voles or even moles making voids in the soil. Al |
