Nope, unfortunately you can't root a peony from a cutting. You need to get a piece of the root.

The old gardeners used to get tree peony cuttings to root. You did not say which you had. A herbaceous should not unless you take a cutting from the crown and have great luck.

The books say that you can get tree peony cuttings to root but they do not give enough information. Is the cutting from green wood, old wood or what. And what type of medium did they use.
