Hello all,
I have a recently transplanted peony that is 5 years mature and in full bloom when dug up. Friends did this for me not realizing the trauma to the plant. When it arrived to me a few days ago, it was bare root and wilted. I planted it immediately in a partially sunny location where it continues to wilt and look closer to death with each day. I might add that my friends didn't deliver the plant for 2 weeks after they dug it up and had it in a bucket in the shade. They said it weathered the dig up alright, but seemed to really wilt on the move when they took it out of it's dirt and transported it in plastic bags.
Should I cut the plant back to help the roots? How often in 90 degree heat should it be watered?
I'm afraid I'm going to lose the plant which is a gift from my grandmother, so please help if you can.
Thanks so much.
