Advice Needed - First Tree Peony

Posted by mwieder z5 NE OH (My Page) on

I just took the plunge and ordered my first Tree Peony (Prometheus from Klehm's). The site I have for it is back of the perennial border, up against a wall and gets full sun until about 1:30 every day. With regards to soil, what should I put in the hole? I have bags of the following in my garage, but can pickup something else, if I don't have the right stuff - I just want to give it the best soil to thrive:
Mushroom Compost
Expanded Shale
Sphagnum Peat
Dehydrateed Cow Manure
Ironite
Woodchip Mulch
Generic Top Soil

thanks for your time!

A mix of equal parts topsoil and composted horse manure works for me.
