need some quick advise from you peony experts!!

I am having a 50th anniversary party for my parents on Fathers day Sunday. I would like to put flowers in a bowl with some floating candles and make an arragement for the head table. My question is: should I cut my pieony buds now? Will they bloom quicker if they are cut and in water or should I hope they come out before SUNDAY!! They are quite large but not opening yet. I can see the color on the edges. I am in Maine... thanks gang

If the buds are just so you can see the color I would wait until the bud starts to open or the time of the party, which ever comes first. Congratulations to your parents. Our children gave us a bang up party on out 50th in 97. Al
