Hi. I have a peony which finally bloomed this year (young) and now I am surprised and wonder what it is.
I thought it was going to be Raspberry Sundae or Festiva Maxima.

It's intensely fragrant and these 2 blooms can be smelled from 4 or 5 feet away in the warm air. It had 2 distinct bloom types. Its hard to see from the picture, but it was bomb shape and it was really pretty large, looked just like a big ice cream cone. yellow stamen like petals and the usual guard petals on the bottom. the top of the bomb had a slight slight pink tint.
the other bloom looked more japanese.

Same plant.

I saw two peonies at Costco this spring that looked like yours: 1st pic: paeonia officinalis alba plena, 2nd pic: poeny PRIMEVERE. I am not really sure but your peony looks more like Primevere.

Thanks Kousa- I'll keep those in mind. I think I will have to wait till it puts out more blooms next year and see if it chooses one style (anemone) or the other (bomb) to bloom mainly- then decide.
