could anyone provide any information as to why my fernleaf peony has not blossomed yet this year. This is the first time it has not blossomed and it is smaller than it has ever been.

It prefers at least 4-6 hours worth of sun each day & it is not a drought tolerant peony, getting smaller each year if grown in drier, unirrigated locations.

Thanks for the information. It has been in the same location for approx. 7 yrs. and has always done very well(large and full with many blooms) yet this year, just a small plant with foliage only. Perhaps it is due to the crazy spring we had with the thawing and freezing cycle carrying into late spring. A number of my hostas are undersized this year as well and I did lose plants this year. Thanks again for your interest.

Is it getting enough sunlight? I have had to do some branch trimming this year. I notice when the plants don't get as big, something has changed in the setting.

My fernleaf also likes being watered in his location near the big oak tree. I think the tree takes a lot of the moisture, so make sure the fernleaf has plenty. Mine stays green pretty late into summer with the extra water. I love the lacy leaves, so try to stretch out their green time. With the branch trimming, more sun, my fernleaf put on a great show this year.
